Until We Meet Again

D- DaShawna will
a- always be our
S- Sweet & precious baby girl.
h- heaven seems all the more sweeter, knowing you are there.
a- although it's difficult at times
w- we rejoice, knowing you are with Jesus.
n- now we're
a- awaiting the day when we get to see you again. :)

It's been 7 years now since DaShawna left this earthly home to go to her heavenly home. Sometimes it seems like yesterday other times like forever.
I am grateful that the Lord ways & thoughts are always perfect.

“ For My thoughts are not your thoughts,Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways,  And My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9

We thank you God upon every remembrance of DaShawna.

But the Lord...

Last night my Mom and I needed to make a trip to Michael's craft store. She came to pick me up and as usual she pulled up in the driveway and got out of the car so I could drive. I get in the car and start to adjust myself to put my seatbelt on and she is getting in the passenger's side when the next thing I know the car is moving FORWARD!!! It all happened in the blink of an eye!

I think I was in shock for a few seconds. Then my immediate thoughts went to where's my Mom??? I jump out of the car to find my Mom on the ground between her car and our Crown Vic. I start asking her if she's okay in which she responds that she is but I'm thinking how could she be??? She was bleeding from her head and laying flat on her back. I go back around to the drivers side and honk the horn. Katy comes out, calls 911 with the voice of my Mom in the background saying she's okay. Needless to say they came, checked her out and she sent them on their way. She's one tough Chickasaw woman!!!
Looking back on the events that took place last night and even today. I can't begin to explain how grateful I am for the Lord granting protection over her. For He tells us in Psalm 91:11-12  "For He shall give His angels charge over you. To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone."  I truly believe that an angel of the Lord beared her up and placed her out of harms way.
Things like garage doors, cars, houses can be replaced. My Mom never could be.....

Here In The Middle

A few months ago, my friend Lori and I went to a concert to see one of our favorite artists, Bebo Norman. He played a song titled "The Middle". And you how different songs mean different things to you at different times in you life? Well this is one of those songs.
Maybe because I turned 50 last month. Marty and I also celebrated 32 years of marraige. :) Or it could be that my children are grown for the most part (even though you never stop parenting) and have their own families now..
But it got me to thinking."God, am I where You want me at? Have I been drawing my life from the people and gifts you've given me. Instead of from You,The Giver of Life?"
I don't know about you but I love it when God uses a song to speak. I believe it's one of the ways that He gets my attention when I may not be hearing Him any other way.
Bebo said it better that I can explain it myself in this interview:

There’s a song called “The Middle” that was an interesting song to write. I had been talking to a friend of mine about his family. We were having lunch and I asked about his wife. And he said she was struggling with the fact that their kids were growing up, starting school, and becoming their own people. She had spent all of her time as a stay-at-home mom, investing in their lives. All of a sudden, they were separating themselves from her. She started asking those same questions that I was mentioning earlier. "Now all of a sudden, I’m not sure that that’s who I’m going to be moving forward. And at the very least, it’s changing. My role in their life is changing."
"The Middle" became a cornerstone song for me. When I talked about the middle, I was talking about in the middle of life. I realized we’ll always wrestle with this a little bit, because we’re in the middle until either Jesus comes back or calls us home. We’re always stuck between our flesh and our spirit while we’re living on this earth. There’s always going to be a battle for identity between those two things. As believers, that’s a beautiful struggle, and it’s not something that we need to be ashamed of or even afraid of, but it’s something that we can embrace and dive headlong into. ~Bebo Norman

God Given Picture

Yesterday was Monday. It started out with a chill in the air but by noontime it was nice enough outside to send Alexis outside to play.
I decided to tackle the BIG job of cleaning out the refrigerator. As I started the task of looking at expiration dates as I pulled things out I came across 12 (yes a DOZEN!) salad dressing bottles!! I could not believe my eyes!  I immediately took a picture and sent it to Katy. Her response, "A new "House" tonight. By the way, that's not enough dressing." Gotta love her! :)
So I go to check on Alexis (cause she's being much to quiet) outside and what do I find? She's standing in front of the charcoal grill with the door on the front of it opened. She was covered in ashes from her hands to her face to her clothes. (wished I would of remembered to take a picture) So, needless to say it was to the shower we went! She cleaned up beautifully.
After cleaning her up and putting her down for a nap I was able to finish the refrigerator.
Reflecting back on my day last night the Lord showed me that He had given me a picture of how He brings beauty from ashes.

To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion--to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit--that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. Isaiah 61:3
